Our good friend, DJ Rhettmatic's new project!!

DJ Rhettmatic (of Beat Junkies) and Buff1's group, Crown Royale is releasing a debut album through Fat Beats Records on 12/7. Here is the message from Rhettmatic about the project;

Peace Everyone,

Buff1 & myself are still gearing up for our self titled debut album "Crown Royale" dropping December 7th on A-Side Worldwide/Fat Beats.

We just re-released our 1st single "We Gotcha" last week....and now we like to debut our 1st official music video:

We shot the video this past May at Fat Beats LA (R.I.P.) & Venice Beach on some Gorilla Style steeze before the Police shut us down. If you can look closely, you can see some cameos from Magestik Legend & Dannu (of the Visionaries). We were supposed to release this video early this year but due to our situation with our original label closing shop, we decided to wait til we got our situation right. And for us, this is a long time coming.....

Buff & myself are very proud of how the music video came out and we couldn't have done it without the help of these talented guys: Jeremy Deputat who directed & shot the video and James R. Petix who did the editing, as well as Josh Remsberg, Jackson Perry, & Jeff Klein at A-Side Worldwide, Jonathan Kim of Synergy Works, Karim Panini & of Quality Control.

Be sure to be on the look out for the Crown Royale x 2dopeboyz Free Ep releasing real soon with 3 songs not featured on the album and 1 remix by the talented 14KT of the Lab Techs/AML.

Once again, on behalf of Buff1 & myself, we thank you for your time & your eyes/ears......

Late Bloomers Debut EP!!

We are going to release Los Angeles based Hip Hop trio, Late Bloomers' debut EP (Vinyl & Digital) on January 18th. The EP is entirely produced by Late Bloomers and mastered by Daddy Kev (Low End Theory / Alpha Pup).

Here is a track off of "Three Shades Brown" for your to check out.

Never Don't Grow by TRES RECORDS

ReallyNathan (of Late Bloomers) on the making of "Never Don't Grow" (taken from Beatnikonline):

"So for about 2 years or so, Ahhzel and I had been working on beats on our own, until the time we made this one. We didn’t really say much when making it, and we didn’t really know where to start after such a long hiatus of not working with each other. But when we were in the process of putting everything together we both kind of felt that this is what we were waiting for, it was a feeling that was as natural as can be.

While we were vibing out to the beat, I decided to try to find some a cappellas to just mess around and scratch over while it was playing. I ended up picking out Erykah Badu's “Cleva.” and started messing with the part “And it might not grow”. Ahh:Zel ended up diggin it, and so did I, so we put that in as well.

"Never Don't Grow" was really the first time we all sang on the track, we don’t have access to a choir or crazy good singers, so we do it all ourselves. Up till this song, we haven’t really experimented with us singing on the track, unless it was us messing around for a skit. It’s always a fun and spontaneous process for us. If we think of something, we just record it. If it sounds good, we’ll keep it, if it doesn’t we’ll go back to the drawing board."

Also, here is a promo footage of the EP.

Chikaramanga "T.R.E.S.Q. feat ESQ" 7 inch

T.R.E.S.Q. feat. ESQ by TRES RECORDS

“T.R.E.S.Q.” is the fourth title from Chikaramanga’s 7" series. On all the tracks for these series, Chikaramanga is behind the beats and TRES RECORDS affiliate MCs are on the raps. This time around, ESQ is featured on the track.

The collaboration between ESQ and Chikaramanga developed through several face to face sessions with one another. Having met through TRES label mate Paten Locke, the two instantly connected and with each move they made, success was quick to follow. As these steps progressed, ESQ & Chikaramanga’s debut album,"The Succession" (TRES September 2010) was born, which sums up their creative process and the idea that "boom-bap" music is alive and well.

“T.R.E.S.Q.” was the first track ESQ and Chikaramanga ever made together and was included as a bonus track on Tres’s six year anniversary mix CD, “TRES PRESENTS : SEIS mixed by DJ Lowkey” (TRES June 2010). This track contains a melodic synth loop and heavy drums, laced with the quick/buttery flow of ESQ, giving the track an overall feeling of the 90’s hip hop we all grew up to and love. This track starts with 8 bar open drums, which is perfect for DJs to juggle with.

No Chaser by TRES RECORDS

Here is the info about Big Tone;

As an artist, Big Tone is an emcee. He's a lyricist who paints crystal clear and graphic depictions of life from a perspective that is universal to urban environments around the world. From the stage to the studio, he's been considered a part of the upper echelon in Detroit's legendary hip-hop world. His early recordings earned the respect of a wide audience and fellow artists, some of which would become Tone's biggest mentors and friends in music. It would be these well received efforts that would earn Tone an opportunity to feature on J Dilla's acclaimed Welcome 2 Detroit LP, which would cement Big Tone as apart of the upper echelon of artists or the rise. 2005 marked a breakout year for Big Tone as a producer. Behind the boards, Tone produced his first full length international release on ABB Records entitled, "The Drought". Trademarked by the gritty chopped drum breaks and mangled soul samples, The Drought displays Tone's gift to create instrumental backdrops as visual as the rhymes over them. The opportunity to travel, perform, produce, and collaborate with artists on a worldwide level helped to broaden Tone's perspective as well as his vision. A decision to relocate to New York played a role in this development. Bonds made in the Big Apple, as well as strong ties in California with labels such as ABB and Tres Records have given Tone coast-to-coast recognition.
